                                  DOLLARS FOR SCHOLARS


This award, sponsored by C.H.A.T. Of WNY is in memory of Steve Hylkema a 1976 graduate of Sweet Home High School. Steve graduated from the University of Buffalo Chemical Engineering program. Steve was one of the founders and past Treasurer of C.H.A.T. of WNY, which stands for: Community Helping Around Town. C.H.A.T. is a social club that generates funds to donate to local charities. The scholarship of $500 will be awarded to an individual who has been involved in some kind of community service and is going to a college in Erie or Niagara county. In addition to completing the Dollars for Scholars application, candidates must write an essay of at least 500 words on "Why they think community service is important and in what ways do they intend to give back to their community after graduation." CHAT of WNY believes that giving back to your community is a very important and rewarding way of life.



 This years scholarship award will go to a senior from Sweet Home High School.

Candidate Applications have been submitted and was reviewed by the C.H.A.T.

Scholarship committee. A decision on the winning candidate was made and announced in April 2013.
